Clothes and toys for my sister and her family

As with many others in the City, my sister and her family have lost everything. They are in Katy and have just been told they cannot access their home until further notice. If anyone has any clothes, toys, books, etc. that they can donate it would be greatly appreciated. I've got my sister covered but her husband and 2 young boys are in need of clothes. Here are the sizes they need. If anyone has any extras it would be greatly appreciated:

We have just sent any of our extras to donate already, but I have a gift card you can have and use to buy some extras. If the boys are staying with you we'd be happy to have them over for a play date. My son is 7 and always happy to make new friends. Hey y'all, Danelle asked me to keep an eye on this thread while she's out and about. We live at 3102 Norrxxxx. If it's easier for anyone to drop off there, just let me know and I can swing by within 10min (I'm in West U now helping parents). Otherwise she or I can pick whatever up from y'all around 5pm. Do u still need the men's clothes?  My husband can provide several of the shirts in those sizes and may have same pants. He wears XXL shirts and mostly 36x36 pants but has some 38x36 ones he's going to look for. But his shoes are mostly 14. If he finds a 13 would that work?  Let me know and he said he could get some stuff together in about an hour if u want to pick up tonight. We are at 2803 Chisxxxx on corner of Lorrie. Who needs toothbrushes?

Our wonderful daughter-in-law, who lives in Seattle wanted to do something to help Harvey flood victims. She asked her co-workers to donate toothbrushes. I now have over 1,100 toothbrushes!! Fantastic! Any recommendations as to best place or how best to distribute these?

Pop up Shoe Shop tomorrow morning from 9am until we are empty at 3743 Abexxxxx Way. We have hundreds of new shoes, sizes ranging from little kids 9 through adults, up to women's 10, and up to men's 13.

I will be clearing out my storage unit to give furniture to my sister. I have a lot of items in there that she won't need because they won't fit in the apartment she rented. If anyone needs a couch, kitchen supplies (pots, pans, glasses, silverware), lamps, fold out computer desks, women's clothes, etc. please contact me and I can coordinate to have them meet me at my storage unit on Center St. and Washington. They will have to pick it up as I'll be running back and forth to Katy, but anyone in need is welcome to anything I have in there. I have more things than what's listed above, but I cannot recall what all is in there.

Free Queen Mattress

Have a queen mattress for free if you can haul it away.  Been in our garage for about 4-5 years but before that was used for about a year.

Does anyone know of anyone still needing water, non perishable snacks, hygiene products and children's/baby items (baby food, diapers) ? I have brand new unused items but NRG was not accepting donations. Thanks!

Stainless Dishwasher & Black Granite Sink w Faucet

We have a working stainless GE Dishwasher about 9 years old and a black granite double sink with stainless faucet that did not flood. We just finished a kitchen remodel and these were in the old kitchen. They just need a little scrub down, but are yours if you need them. We also have a small stainless vent hood. PM me if interested.

I eventually received an email from BarkerRipley at 4:29am saying that they were in shortage of volunteers for the the night shift (12am-7am). I rushed to there in the middle of night and only found that all what I needed to do was re-sort a pile clothes which had been sorted by previous shift. There was no any information on the current status and what is the current goal. Just another kind of misleading.

Volunteers are no longer needed as of this week in the hundreds, but more on a consistent rotation. The Baker Ripley staff have done a great job. Local volunteers are needed in the field in areas affected with the clean-up and recovery more.  I echoed the above about not being as productive and wanting to do more for the neighbors at NRG. Thanks for all of your kindness!

300 sq ft of flooring

Hello neighbors, I have about 300 sq ft of laminate flooring for anyone who needs it. In great condition - leftover from a project- I can help load and install.

Does anyone know where man power is needed in or around the neighborhood? I've got about 5-6 20-30 yr old men who swim like a fish and are ready to help. Who still needs help?  We've identified many needs so far, especially neighbors who don't have strong support networks to help them.  If you still need help and haven't contacted me, please let me know what you need.  Even if you are dealing with the mess of your own home, if you could please check on your neighbor to the left and right and let us know if anyone needs assistance, that would help ensure that no one is forgotten in this aftermath and others can come to their assistance.

There are several neighbors who did not flood who are helping others clean up, plus there are volunteers coming from outside our netibhorheod ready to help.  If you are available to help...many hands make for merry work, and we can make sure all our neighbors are taken care of.

Neighborhood canoes ferry flooded homeowners to higher ground

Kudos to a bunch of neighbors who crewed the canoes from Bexxxxx to rescue people, pets and belongings.  Working together with others on cell phones or out in kayaks and canoes who conveyed the status of stranded neighbors, many families were assisted on Sunday.  Thank you!

My daughter, her husband, and their 3 children were given a boat ride to safety by this kind family.  A memory I'm sure my 5 yr old grandson will never forget.  Thank you from the bottom of this grandmother's heart.

Flood victim needs transportation

Hello neighbors,

One of our neighbors who has been staying with us during the flood needs transportation to and from where she will be moving. She has requested a car from rental companies, but they're sold out. Until they re-stock, she needs a way to go back and forth between West U (where she'll stay with a friend) and Braeswood (where she lives).

Ethan is a Junior and drives to school he leaves around 630-645 so he is able to get parking, y'all are welcome to ride with him to and from school if you'd like.

Do you guys still need help? If so, I can swing by Home Depot and pick up some masks, gloves, supplies, etc.

We found some kitchen gloves at cvs and medical masks from the minute clinic. Not sure but I think those will work. We don't even really know what we need other than that...

I'm also available to help with laundry and dishwashing submerged items. I can pick up and deliver as well!

We did not flood & have 3 teenage boys 12, 13, & 14 that can help.  They are athletic and strong and have more energy than you can imagine.  They are tired of being inside playing Xbox and watching movies, they are used to being active.  My husband and I can also help. Just let us know

If you need help with clean up...

FRIENDS, please pass this to anyone in Houston area or any that was affected. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints along with numerous others, currently have a hotline available to submit work orders for specific need requests related to the damages and for cleanup efforts. There is no charge if these services. They are mobilizing thousands to come and help mucking out homes, cleaning etc. This has been done in many cities throughout the world. Last year 5000 were mobilized to Louisiana. It may make a week or two, but bishops in the area have already submitted an estimation of homes damaged and preparation is underway.

By calling the hotline number, a volunteer will take down the information you need and create a work order and then attempt to send a volunteer crew out to help. This includes removing carpet, cutting down tree limbs, etc.

Obviously there's still difficulty getting crews into neighborhoods, but this will allow us to start the rebuilding process, and they will come as they are able. The volunteer groups will come from the LDS Mormon Helping Hands, Catholic Charities, Etc.

My husband was at the convention center this morning helping and then we are going to go later at night to volunteer again. I think they are looking for plus size clothing so if anyone has any to give let me know. And of course toiletries, cleaning supplies and dry baby food.

If you are fortunate enough to still have wifi and Internet access with a free data plan,  please consider sharing your Internet access with neighbors nearby - or neighbors passing by  until the storm passes.  

Simply use your phone or IPad settings to turn it into a free wifi/Internet hot spot.  Works on IPhone and Android. Is a bit slower but is still Internet access that your neighbors will be thankful for.

Speeding boats

There are boats speeding up and down our streets.  The wake is going to be the cause of our house flooding!  I assume they're trying to help but, if anyone knows these guys, please ask them to go slow enough as to produce no wake.

Car break in（8/26）

Someone broke into our car last night. The glove compartment and console were emptied and items were all over the floor. Looks as if they rifled through the contents, but took nothing we can see - there was nothing of value in the car. There were no windows broken, so we're wondering if we left the doors unlocked?  We usually lock them. The car was parked in our driveway right up against the garage, and it's fairly well lit.  Just wanted to alert neighbors. I see someone else posted that there were car break ins last night on xxxxfield St., as well.

Car Break-In's

It looks a tall male with short dark colored hair wearing a t-shirt, gym shorts, and white addidas flip flops broke into multiple cars on xxxxfield St. I have reported this information to the police. If anybody has seen this guy or recognizes him please contact me.

Somebody went through all the cars on xxxxfield Street he was able to open the doors with some kind of a remote got a few pics of him it was at 3:15 a.m.
