We have been invited to demonstrate our device to engineers in this mining company in this Jan. Then they sent us to underground mining site for field testing for twice. The lessons we learned are:
- Field testing is not training. The only thing we should do is to test what they want, NOT I think important. Not much information about company, operation and technical details。More info I give, more questions they have, more doubts about product, more insecure about decision.
- Need at least two engineers for device installation and operation onsite because they can remind each other for small things, and one salesman who can talk to customers to distract them so that they will pay more attention on big picture instead of details.
- For some small things such as when and where to test it is better dealing with the supervisor directly instead of their manager or CEO. The supervisors are usually very nice but jut hope to get your respect and have requests from you directly.
- Actively follow up could make differences.
Hopefully those lessons can help me in future.
