我们来美国时带了很多四川香肠，结果在入关时被查出没收了，想想真可惜的！

咱不光带被子，还带了剪头发的剪刀。光剪刀在头一年里给咱省了不少，自剪不用等,省不少时间，自剪还省钱。偶不觉得傻或任何羞愧，if that was what you experieced then that is part of your true life .

16楼 游客(69.195.x.x): You have to specify when this bringing things unecessarily to America happened.   Thirty years, students brought even afew kilo of rice to America and it turned out it was quite wise to do so, especially for the first few days.  Each person could only get a hundred dollars out of China.  If you don't speak good English and had no transportation you had to manage with all you had brought here from your suitcases.  There was totally no on-line shopping.  Things are different now.  But if you like to depend on yourself and these things do help.  Please don't laugh at these people.  They might not be aware of the outside world,but they are not stupid at all.

国内的亲戚来美问要带点啥，真心想不起来需要点啥，想要的这边都有，这边没有的我也用不上。

我只带霉干菜，这个美国没有。噢，不是带的，是回美国前到邮局寄的，谁知道海关会不会让这种东西入关呢？霉干菜烧肉是很好吃的，全家超喜欢。

遗憾的是我们来美国的时候，还没有开放的互联网，军队和NASA刚刚开始建立他们的网络系统。Netscape web browser　第一版都还没有问世呢！

其实这个问题没有共性。带什么不带什么，完全取决于你到的地方，你的经济状况，你的个人偏好。我们第一站落脚在一个非常小的北部城市，什么中国用品和食品都买不到，又不会开车。幸亏带了很多东西，要不然头几个月真难熬。后来搬到旧金山，什么都有了。
