- Electric motors are 90%-95% energy efficient. As a comparison, Internal combustion engines are only 17%-21% energy efficient. Most of the octanes are converted to heat and smoke through the IC engines. The cost of the EV battery will be down to $100 kwh soon, probably by 2018 or 2019. After that, the cost of the EVs will be lower than the ICE vehicles.
