German finally succeeded in 1708 but it was closely guarded as a trade secret. In 1712, the Chinese manufacturing secrets were revealed throughout Europe by the French Jesuit Francois Xavier d'Entrecolles and soon published in the Lettres édifiantes et curieuses de Chine par des missionnaires jésuites." No Patten Law yet, China did not invent the patten law.
