先看看美国红十字会提供的资料，As many as 15 million people have food allergies。An estimated 9 million, or 4%, of adults have food allergies。Nearly 6 million or 8% of children have food allergies with young children affected most. Boys appear to develop food allergies more than girls. Boys appear to develop food allergies more than girls.
Food Allergies are on the Rise
• The prevalence of food allergies and associated anaphylaxis appears to be on the rise. 6
o In 2008, the CDC reported an 18 percent increase in food allergy among children between
1997 and 2007. According to a study released in 2013 by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, food allergies among children increased approximately 50% between 1997
and 2011 。
食物过敏不仅发病率高，而且增加速度快！不得不使人关心。
有网友认为呼吸道过敏比以前有所降低是个好消息。事实是否是如此？再看看CDC的另一段文字：
Hispanic children had a lower prevalence of food allergy, skin allergy, and respiratory allergy compared with children of other race
Non-Hispanic black children were more likely to have skin allergies and les likely to have respiratory allergies compared with non Hispanic white children.

好了，不论红十字会，或者CDC都没有提到近来呼吸道过敏有明显的降低，而是说有种族差异及贫富差异。而且微妙的是富人的呼吸道过敏好似越富，发病率越高。我个人认为肥胖者容易发生哮喘早为医生所熟知。因此我不认为在美国有关过敏症问题，有什麽值得兴奋的事情。即使呼吸道过敏真的减少了，但是食物过敏者的后果也会有鼻堵，哮喘等发生。而且比例很高。所以不能用单一指标来评价美国的过敏问题。对美国来说。任何过敏，都应该使其降低。都要有关部门的重视。而且美国官方说得很清楚，当空气质量指数超过50时，对有特殊过敏者要特别注意。怎么能无动于衷呢？
顺便说一句。美国新移民，几乎有近一半在到美国3-5年内会有花粉过敏，其表现基本上是鼻子闭塞。流眼泪。很像感冒，但不发烧。应属于呼吸道过敏。如果5-6年后没有花粉过敏，那就大概不会再发生花粉过敏了。
