一位修士把一位以色列男青年和一位巴勒斯坦男青年叫过来，问他们怎么分配三枚硬币。
巴勒斯坦男青年说，他会拿走两个硬币，留一个给以色列人。修士说：“好吧，你有权利这么做，但你正在播下冲突的种子。”以色列人说，他只想要一个金币，给巴勒斯坦人两个。修士说：“很明显，你是在你对手身上投资，希望以后有可能从中获益。”

这个故事告诉我们：谈判不是游戏，也不是战争，是文明人消除分歧的过程。
现在回过头来，看看二战时期，打的不可开交的欧洲和亚洲的各个国家。战争过去几十年了，冲突的欧洲各国现已组成了欧盟，在制度上最大限度的降低了各国之间再次冲突的机会。反观东亚中国、日本和南北朝鲜的关系，特别是最近一段时期，实在可悲。很多人认为东亚人智商最高，最聪明。但从近代史的发展来看，亚洲人特别是东亚人，实际上愚不可及。
另外如果以色列和巴勒斯坦的领导人，能有上面故事中年轻人的智慧，那么他们将会是世界上最聪明的人。
