Strawberry Daiquiri Cocktail

In its basic form, the classic Daiquiri is just rum, lime juice and a little sugar. The second most popular version is to add a small splash of maraschino liqueur. From there, the variations are endless. This fruity frozen version is probably the most popular of all this drink's many incarnations.

2 ounces rum
1 ounce lime juice
1 teaspoon confectioner's sugar or simple syrup
3 ounces (3/4 cup_ fresh hulled strawberries
1/2 ounce of maraschino liqueur or Cointreau or Chambord (optional)
about 1 cup of ice

mint sprigs and/or a whole strawberry for garnish
