The Last Resort－赏析

“老鹰”是我一直珍爱的乐队之一。许多人喜欢他们的《Hotel California》，虽然我也喜欢这首，但更喜欢这首不太被大众所知的《The Last Resort》. 其旋律深沉，寓意冗长；歌词内涵丰富，让人反思。大意讲的是英国来美国的殖民者，抱着满腔的理想去志愿，在登上美洲大陆后，却对当地Indian居民进行屠杀掠夺。使原来的净土变成了越来越商业化的殖民地。

and sail to Lahaina （指殖民者接着到了Lahaina,Hawaii--最后一个被占领的地方，到了Hawaii尽头）
just like the missionaries did, so many years ago（missionaries曾经去Lahaina传福音，而殖民者却是去侵略）
They even brought a neon sign: "Jesus is coming"
Brought the white man's burden down
Brought the white man's reign （殖民者用耶稣的名义来粉饰自己的罪名，并无耻的扩张领地）
