Donning tiny red bikinis and gold bangles, they pose on their fronts with one particular asset aimed toward the camera.
These are the 27 women who will soon be battling it out for the coveted title of Miss Bum Bum Brazil 2014.
The competition, offering a $22,000 (£13,000) prize and the chance of worldwide fame, seeks to find Brazil's finest example of the female bottom.
In its first stage, representatives from each of the country's states are brought together to witness a public online vote, during which 15 finalists will be selected.
The second stage will see a winner chosen by a jury in a ceremony in November.
Now in its fourth year, Miss Bum Bum Brazil has gone from humble beginnings to international fame, with spin-offs in Miami, Japan and for the World Cup.
This year, the contestants include a Megan Fox lookalike, Claudia Alende; twins Graziella and Rafaella Fornazieri; a plus-size model, Juliana Bittencortt; and the oldest ever candidate, Patricia Oliveira, aged 39.

【2月1日 AFP】港の倉庫に放置されて腐った山積み状態のノルウェー産サーモン。突然、建設中止になった太平洋の島国パラオのビーチリゾート施設。猛烈な台風が直撃したフィリピンへの鈍い反応。どれも、中国の「レッドライン（超えてはならない一線）」を越えてしまった国が経済的な打撃を受ける可能性があることを示す例だ。
世界最大の貿易国で、アフリカにとって最大の貿易相手国でもある中国。世界2位の経済大国にふさわしい「責任ある大国」として、政治、外交面での地位向上を目指すが、中小国に対する戦術が裏目に出る恐れがあると専門家は指摘する。
現在服役中の中国の民主活動家、劉暁波（Liu Xiaobo）氏がノーベル平和賞（Nobel Peace Prize）を受賞した2010年以降、中国政府は、ノルウェー政府がノルウェー・ノーベル委員会（Norwegian Nobel Committee）」による選考に関与していないにもかかわらず、ノルウェーへの制裁を試みている。
中国はノルウェー産サーモンに輸入規制を導入。中国の港の倉庫には腐ったサーモンが山積みにされた。13年の中国市場におけるノルウェー産サーモンのシェアはそれまでの92％から29％へと大きく落ち込んだ。

中国の怒りを買ったフィリピンやパラオ
中国の怒りを買ったのはノルウェーだけでない。南シナ海の領有権問題で中国と対立しているフィリピンは13年11月に記録的な勢力の台風30号（アジア名：ハイエン、Haiyan）で甚大な被害を受けたが、中国の当初の支援はわずか10万ドル（約1000万円）だった。
国際社会からの批判を受けて中国は支援額を180万ドル（約1億8000万円）に引き上げたが、日本の3000万ドル（約31億円）、米国の2000万ドル（約20億円）を大きく下回った。
スウェーデンの家具大手イケア（IKEA）がチャリティー基金を通じて270万ドル（約2億8000万円）を寄付したことに触れ、「中国、フィリピン支援でイケアにも及ばず」と報じた新聞もあった。
12年には、同じ領有権問題を背景に、害虫が付着していたとの理由でフィリピン産バナナの輸入を制限。中国とフィリピンの港には放置されて腐ったバナナが大量に積み上げられ、フィリピンは推計2300万ドル（約23億円）の損失を被った。
また2009年にパラオ政府がキューバにあるグアンタナモ（Guantanamo）米海軍基地内の収容施設に拘禁されていた中国がテロリストとみなすウイグル人6人を受け入れる意向を示すと、中国からの投資でパラオ国内に建設中だった海辺のリゾート施設の工事が突然中止された。
「ダライ・ラマ効果」とは？
専門家によると、中国の脅しと報復を招く「レッドライン」は特定の問題に限られているという。チベット仏教の最高指導者ダライ・ラマ（Dalai Lama）に関連するもの、中国の指導者や過去の人権侵害への批判、東シナ海と南シナ海での領有権問題、中国が自国の一部とみなしている台湾、新疆ウイグル自治区（Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region）での騒乱などが挙げられる。
中国が一方的に発動する制裁措置を研究している豪シドニー大学（University of Sydney）のジェームズ・レイリー（James Reilly）教授（北東アジア政治）は、中国はダライ・ラマの訪問など極めて狭い範囲の問題に集中している点でとてもユニークだと指摘する。
2010年にはドイツの研究者たちが、ある国の指導者がダライ・ラマと面会するとその国の対中輸出はその後の2年間に平均で12.5％減少することを発見し、この現象を「ダライ・ラマ効果」と名付けた。
■「ソフトパワー」への視野が狭い中国
中国の政府系シンクタンク中国国際問題研究所（China Institute of International Studies、CIIS）の曲星（Qu Xing）所長は、中国国民の多くは中国の外交はまだまだ厳しさが足りないと考えていると主張し、中国政府の行動によって中国の国際的なイメージが傷つく恐れはないと話している。
しかし中国国営紙・環球時報（Global Times）が14か国の1万4400人を対象に行った調査で、国際問題について中国は「好戦的」だと答えた人は回答者の29％に上った。
米ハーバード大学（Harvard University）のジョセフ・ナイ（Joseph Nye）教授は、中国は自国の取る手段が自らの「ソフトパワー」に与える影響についての視野が狭いと言う。ナイ教授が提唱した「ソフトパワー」とは、経済力や軍事力ではなく、文化や政治体制の魅力によって他国からの支持や共感を得ることで成果を上げる能力のこと。

- "China is forcing out Austin Ramzy today after 6.5 years," Times China correspondent Ed Wong wrote on Twitter.
"Sad to be leaving Beijing," Ramzy tweeted. "Hope I can return soon." It comes a month after US Vice President Joe Biden raised the issue of China's treatment of foreign journalists privately with Chinese leaders during a visit to Beijing.
Beijing has blocked the websites of both the Times and Bloomberg News after they published investigations in 2012 into the family wealth of former premier Wen Jiabao and President Xi Jinping, respectively.
Authorities this week said that Ramzy's journalist visa, which the newspaper applied for in June after he joined from Time magazine, would not be ready before the end of the month, effectively obliging him to leave.
The Foreign Correspondents' Club of China (FCCC) said it "strongly regrets" that Ramzy "has been forced to leave" and criticised China's behaviour, saying it "falls well short of international standards".
He is the third New York Times journalist to not be authorised to stay in China in 18 months, it pointed out in a statement.
"In these circumstances it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the authorities are punishing the New York Times for articles it published concerning Premier Wen Jiabao and his family."
Chris Buckley, a veteran Reuters China correspondent hired by the Times, similarly had to leave Beijing when his previous visa expired in December 2012.
Philip Pan, the Times's designated Beijing bureau chief, has been waiting for nearly two years for Chinese authorities to grant him a visa and covers the country from Hong Kong.
Asked about China's treatment of foreign journalists, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying denied any expulsions.
"There's no such thing as foreign journalists being expelled from China," Hua said Wednesday at a regular news briefing, adding: "It is Chinese domestic affairs. We are firmly opposed to any individual or any government or organisation interfering in China's domestic affairs."
