My first lie was happened when I was four.
One morning, on the way to my daycare, I told my dad just drop me off at the gate instead of the classroom since we were running little bit late that day. My dad was so impressed by my thoughtfulness, so he left me at the gate of the daycare centre and went to work directly.
I then decided to explore the little park just beside our daycare. It was such a lovely day during the spring time. The flowers were blooming; the birds were singing; and ducklings following their mom on the lake. Everything was so beautiful. I enjoyed my little adventure until noon time, because I was hungry. So I went back to the daycare to have my lunch.
After I arrived, my teacher questioned me about the reason of being so late, in order to save the explanation, I told the teacher because my dad was late. I was pretty pleased because she didn’t say anything afterward.
By the end of the day, when my dad picked me up, he was kind of unusual. He was pretty quite and poker faced. I thought he must have had a bad day.
After we arrived home, my dad called me to my room and asked about where I went after he dropped me off at the daycare. I knew right way, there would be some serious consequences ahead of me. I apologized and swear that I’d never ever done such thing again, but all my efforts were little bit too little too late. My father’s hand print was printed on my butt cheeks for a week. It was painful.
I have learnt from that day, that lying could be a very risky thing to do, and it is a lot easier for my parents to accept my silliness than my lies.
