在德州有个朋友（不是山东的德州〕，是位根红苗正的传统共和党人士，也说不定他最近成了茶党的积极分子。时不长就发些美国“右派言论”的邮件过来，从中可以看到一些老美的真实想法。 以下便是一例：
医生一边为一位牧场劳作而割破手的德州老牛仔作缝合手术，一边与这位75岁的老头聊天。不知不觉地谈到奥巴马成为美国总统的话题。
老牛仔说道：“嗨，你知道吗？奥巴马只不过是个木桩乌龟。”
医生不明白其中的含义，便问到：“什么是木桩乌龟？”
老牛仔答道：“当你在乡村道路上开车时，你会碰到牧场围栏的木桩顶上爬着只乌龟，那就是木桩乌龟。”
老家伙看到大夫一脸茫然、大惑不解的表情，便解释说：
”你知道吧，他自己是爬不到那儿的，他也不应该待在那儿；待在那儿他不知道干点什么好，但一时半会儿他还哪儿也走不得。那你就想到底是什么样的傻瓜把他放上去的呢？”
Post Turtle
While suturing up a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose
hand had been caught in the gate while working his cattle, the doctor
struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got
around to Obama, and his being our president.
The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Obama is just a Post Turtle."
Now not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked,
What's a "Post Turtle?"
The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and
you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a
post turtle."
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he
continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he
doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up
there, he sure as heck ain't goin' anywhere, and you just wonder what
kind of dumb ass put him up there in the first place."
