道德经七十六章，强弱相化
人之生也柔弱，其死也坚强。
万物草木之生也柔脆，其死也枯槁。
故坚强者死之徒，柔弱者生之徒。
是以兵强则不胜，木强则折。
强大处下，柔弱处上。
现代汉语解说：

人出生成长的时候， 身体是柔弱的；人死的时候，身体变僵硬。
各种草木，其发育生长的时候，是柔弱的；草木死的时候，变的枯干坚硬。
所以，坚硬强大的时候，是走向死亡的路；柔软弱小的时候，是走向成长的道路。
因而，军队强硬的时候，不是走向胜利。树木坚硬的时候，走向枯折。
强大的时候，走向下坡之路。柔弱的时候，走向上坡之路。

When a person is at his birth and growing, his body is weak and soft; when he is dying, his body is getting hard and firm.
Everything such as trees and grasses, when they are germinating and growing, they are weak and soft; when the trees or grasses are dying, the are getting dry and firm.
As thus, when a thing is strong and tough, it is on the way getting weak; when a thing is weak and faint, it is on the way getting strong.
Therefore, when the army is strong and tough, it is not going to get triumph; when a tree is strong and firm, it is going to be dry and die.
A thing at strong status will go down to weak status. A thing at weak status will go up to strong status.
