In an interview with FRANCE 24, Taiwan’s Vice President Chen Chien-jen, an epidemiologist by training, discussed his country’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, while criticising the response of China and the World Health Organization. Chen refused to rule out the "possibility" that the coronavirus originated in a Chinese laboratory in Wuhan. He also expressed concern about a second wave of the virus appearing in autumn or winter.

=====Keep in mind that Taiwan was the first nation to warn the WHO about the disease and were the ones that were putting the report for the countermeasures against it. Meanwhile, China was arresting doctors and publishing misinformation which the WHO is still praising their response and says absolutely nothing about Taiwan. The WHO are being bought up by China and is a joke at this point.
=====In mid-April the WHO said Taiwan's warning notice of 'isolated for treatment' sent on December 31 DOES NOT mean 'human to human transmission.' If that was true, why isolated? And it was the WHO that needed to proactively investigate whether it's human to human transmission. It was not Taiwan's job to confirm it. (Taiwan was not even a member of the WHO.)
Before the transmission route could be clarified, the WHO needed to treat it as human to human transmission for safety and should have warned the world in December by directing other countries to do what Taiwan did -- screening passengers from Wuhan AS EARLY AS December 31.
If the rest of the world had paid more attention to Taiwan, a small island that is officially recognized as a country by less than 20 nations, we would not be facing a viral massacre.
What we are facing now may happen again. perhaps 15 years later.
Remember that the 2003 SARS also came from the China. Both are considered bioweapons by some. SARS was also claimed by the Chinese gov to have come from eating wild animals.
Take this seriously: the Chinese people have eaten wild animals as part of their culture for more hundreds or even thousands of years. WHY HAS CHINA EXPERIENCED ANIMAL-DERIVED, HIGHLY INFECTIOUS, NEW VIRUSES OUTBREAK SUCH AS SARS AND COVID-19 WITHIN LESS THAN TWO DECADES? It's tempting to consider both man-made.
And today (April 22) the WHO specifically said COVID-19 was not made in the P4 virus lab in Wuhan, which made the conspiracy more realistic.
======It's actually a blessing that Taiwan is excluded by WHO so that Taiwan does not trust any misinformation from WHO and set up their own system.
======Yes, what the news said about Taiwan is true. I am an overseas student in Taiwan. I live in the uni dormitory. everyday they will check our temprature when we're about to go out, and we have to give them the prove that we're already check our temprature when we want to get in the dormitory. same goes to another building like the cafetaria, gym, classes, etc. the school gave every single student a pack of handsanitizer, wet tissues and a soap. they're also ask us wheter if we're still have mask or not, bcs when we dont have mask anymore they will give it to us. Taiwanese are very strict about this and taking this seriously. Salute.
======I am not Taiwanese but i got my master degree here and now working in Taiwan as an engineer. I can proudly admit that I'm glad that i get to stay here, safe and sound. So giving unbiased opinion here (since I'm neither Taiwanese nor Chinese), Taiwanese government indeed took fast response to prevent the virus spreading even when WHO ignored that this could be pandemic. My fellow friends and coworkers told me not to trust what chinese media reports, as the number has been edited to hide the real casualties. The truth is far more devastating than what they want us to see. The death toll report was manipulated, as the information given by cremation house exceeded the amount reported by media, plus, cancellation of millions phone subs**tion which means they either lose their phone or the phone lose their owner. Taiwan is doing a lot better than most countries in the world.
