- Mao might has enough troops but, he didn't had any navy and air cover to protect the crossing. That was why. Island crossing must have air coving and ships protection. We can study the British landing on the Falkland islands. It provides a good example. Landing on Taiwan would be the same only in larger scale about 100 times. The biggest challenge here is mainland has to land both on Panwu islands and main island simultaneously in order to cut short. That would take a larger forces about 650 thousand to 750 thousand plus all wars toys at hands would be needed. It is a lot of works and money involve. Let's hope it won't happen. One most important fact is if the landing must take place. It should be landed at the weakest areas of the island and fight to the hard spot. This way you can have a save beach head for in-comings or next wave landings. mak
