- i guess your example does not fit into your conclusion.
i used to spend $2300 out of my own pocket to do an implant by a white dentist. the surgery was not good. after one year, the chinese dentist (who referred me to the white) told me the white dentist should charge no more than $1000. it was ovbiously over-charged. if we don't argue, we would lose our own rights or benefits.
that said, i don't argue for almost all items except, 1. car, 2. house and 3. hugh-billed copayment medical expenses. did i miss the 4th item???

- we may never know how much an implant really costs. hospitals usually give patients 50% or more discount if the patients have no insurance and have to pay out of his own pocket. so, that is why i guess $1K could be acceptable, though different dentists may ask for different prices.

the first time I did an implant was in 2004 where my employer's insurance did not cover it. soon, my insurance began to cover since 2004 and after that I had no idea how much I would have to pay if I had no insurance.
