美国加州棕榈泉（Palm Springs）一处生育诊所在当地时间17日上午11点左右遭遇汽车爆炸事件，造成至少1人死亡、5人受伤，而诊所人员全都平安，储存卵子、胚胎的实验室也未受损。美国联邦调查局（FBI）已将其定调为恐怖攻击，研判这间诊所有可能是遭蓄意锁定。
综合外媒报导，FBI洛杉矶分局负责人戴维斯（Akil Davis）告诉媒体：「这是1起蓄意的恐怖行动。待我们继续调查，将会釐清这是国际恐怖主义还是本土恐怖主义。」至于事发诊所是否刻意遭锁定成为攻击目标，戴维斯回应：「我们认为答桉是肯定的。」

令据媒体最新现场报道，目前爆炸案的凶手已被确认为爱德华·巴特库斯。报道称他“在书面或录音中表示，他反对违背人类意愿将人类带到这个世界。”
