当地时间9月25日，美国总统特朗普称，如果认为哪个举办2026年世界杯足球赛的城市不安全，就会换到其他城市举办。
谈及将举办世界杯赛事的西雅图和旧金山，特朗普称，这两座城市由“激进的左派管理，他们不知道自己在做什么”。他说，“我们将确保它们会安全”。

2026年世界杯将首次在美国、加拿大和墨西哥三个国家的多座城市举行。
美国将有包括洛杉矶、纽约、西雅图和旧金山在内的11座城市作为赛事举办地。
而特朗普将民主党主政的芝加哥、洛杉矶、纽约等城市称为“问题城市”，以抓捕非法移民、打击犯罪为由向洛杉矶、华盛顿等地派遣国民警卫队。
