- yes, i agree with you. i seldom went to bronx, only once or twice so far. it is truly frightening to face in reality such stories you described. i'd better not go there. :-)

- in 90s, i went to nyc with friends (americans) and dinned in china town, the old one. it took us forever to find a spot to park, in narrow street between two buildings. then we walked almost 5 minutes to the china town. it was dirty and everyone spoke chinese dialects i could not comprehend. after the meal, it took us almost 20 minutes to find where we parked. just the time we were ready to go and we realized that two front wheels of the car were gone; i meant that the front of the car sat on the top of bricks!!! someone stole the two front wheels!!!
called 911, cops showed up. fortunately it was a rental. so filed report, got the car towed to the rental office (can't remember which company). the whole weekend was kinda ruined.
back then i barely spoke english and just watched my friends blah, blah.. with cops. cops seemed to be serious wrote down everything but in the end, cops, so i was told, implied it was damn too common in nyc and cops just didn't have time for cases like this...

- “男人因穷困而道德败坏，女人因饥饿而生活堕落卖淫”。
如果贫穷是罪恶之由，那么所有的贪官污吏、不法奸商和二奶、小三应该是最有道德的人群了吧？
于是“窃钩者诛，窃国者侯”。也成了最合理、最有道德的社会评价标准。
这是华尔街的肥猫最爱听的话，也是中国的先富族和所谓的精蝇最爱听的话。
